Computer Randomly Restarts Without Warning – Solved

Computer randomly restarts is an annoying error and keeps disrupting our work. I know how irritating it feels to get your PC to shut down automatically and have your work disrupted. I have done some research in the same and came to know of some ideas which have helped me. I am sharing these methods with you so that you too can get rid of this problem of computer randomly restarts.

After installing the new Windows 10 update, many users have reported that Windows suddenly restarts without warning. This can be system errors occur. A BIOS update can also resolve the issue

How to Fix Computer Restarting Randomly

There are many reasons behind this issue. This is not an error but this is very annoying. When you start your computer, it works perfectly for some time and then restarts automatically.  Again after some time, the same will happen again. It is very irritating when you have lots of work to do. To fix the issue, you can follow these solutions.

Here are some ways to solve the problem.

Method 1: Power Issue

There can be a fluctuating power issue which might be causing your PC to restart again and again.

To solve this issue, you can try changing your power cables and maybe get a stabilizer to prevent sudden fluctuations in your power supply.

Method 2: Disable Automatically Restart Feature

There is an option of automatic restart which restarts your PC in case of any problem. You can try disabling the feature to prevent the problem of ‘computer randomly restarts’. Here’s how:

Step 1 – Press Windows Key + S together on your keyboard.

Step 2 – Type ‘This PC’ in the search bar.

Step 3 – On the option ‘This PC’ that appears, right click and select Properties.

Step 4 – On the left side of the screen, select Advanced System Settings.

Step 5 – Select Settings.

Step 6 – Among the options, you will see the option of Automatically Restart.

Step 7 – Click OK.

This will solve the problem of restarting without warning. If it does not help, you can go for the following methods.

Method 3: Changing Advanced Power Settings

This is said to be one of the most effective solutions to solve the problem of ‘computer randomly restarts‘. It is also easy to implement and here is how you can change advanced power settings.

Step 1 – Press Windows Key + S together on your keyboard.

Step 2 -Type Edit Power Plan.

Step 3 – On the window that appears, click on Change Advanced Power Settings that appears on the bottom of the screen.

Step 4 – In the Balanced section that appears, click on the option of Processor Power Management.

Step 5 – Select the option Minimum processor state.

Step 6 – Set it to low state, like 5% or even 0%.

Step 7 – Click Apply then OK.

Method 4: Update Your Graphic Card Driver

Step 1 – Go to Control Manager.

Step 2 – Select Device Manager option.

Step 3 – Click on Display Adapters, under Device Manager.

Step 4 – Right click on Display Adapters and select Update Driver Software.

Step 5 – Among the options that appear, select Search Automatically.

Step 6 – Find your video card information from ‘Display Adapters’.

Step 7 – Go to the website of the manufacturer and select the option of Update Drivers.

Step 8 – Enter your video card information.

Step 9 – Download the driver.

And voila! Your issue is solved.

There are also other methods of updating your graphics card. If you do not want to do it manually, go for some third party tools or software which update your drivers immediately. Also, make sure these third-party apps are from a trusted source.
