Fix Mouse Keeps Double Clicking Windows 10

It often happens that even if we try to click the mouse button once, it gets clicked twice on the screen and you get the result accordingly. This often happens due to some system fault, which we will help you fix Mouse Keeps Double Clicking issue in this article.

But it is possible that maybe you are accidentally clicking the mouse very speedily, such that it is getting clicked twice. One thing is sure that, this is not a software issue. This may be a hardware issue. When you click a mouse once, it automatically clicked twice.

Here are some simple solutions that you can use to fix the issue. Sometimes due to outdated drivers, you will face the problem.

Fix Mouse Keeps Double Clicking Windows 10

The firth thing you have to do is check with another mouse and see if there is an issue with Mouse or drivers. If the second mouse is working fine then there is an issue with your mouse. If not working then its time to update drivers and update Windows OS.

Method 1 – Check Your Mouse Settings

One of the most basic things to do would be to check if your mouse settings are okay. Many times, it might be that your setting is such that a single mouse-click is registered as a double click.

Step 1 – Click the Start button.

Step 2 – Go to Settings and then go to Control Panel. Or you can simply go for the Windows button and then type ‘Control Panel’, then select the Control Panel option in the search options to go to Control Panel.

Step 3 – In the search control panel bar, type ‘Mouse’.

Step 4 – Select Change Mouse Settings

Step 5 – Go to the Buttons tab.

Step 6 – Click Restore Defaults.

Step 7 – If you see that a problem of double-clicking only impacts a specific program, click Settings button > Then choose that program > Click Restore Defaults.

Note – If you see that there is no option of Restore Defaults available, then that is because all your buttons are already set to default mode.

Step 8 – Click OK.

Method 2 – Go back to the Old Driver

The new updated driver might be buggy and hence you are facing issues with your mouse click. In such a case, it is best to go back to the last driver that you had. Here is how you can do it.

Step 1 – Press Windows Key + X together on your keyboard.

Step 2 – Select Device Manager.

Step 3 – Select the option of Mouse or Touchpad.

Step 4 – Double click on it so that Properties opens.

Step 5 – Select the driver tab.

Step 6 – Click on the Roll Back Driver button.

Step 7 – Wait for some time for the driver to roll back to its previous version.

Method 3 – Use The Default Driver

Step 1 -Press Windows Key + X together on your keyboard.

Step 2 – Select Device Manager.

Step 3 – Right-click on the option of Mouse or Touchpad.

Step 4 – Choose Uninstall. This will remove the driver.

Step 5 – Then restart your computer. After your computer restarts, the default driver will be installed and this will solve your problem.

Method 4 – Replace Your Mouse

The problem of the mouse keeps double-clicking could be a hardware issue. Usually, it happens that if the double-clicking problem is not a particular program-specific then it can be a hardware problem. In such a case, it will be best to replace your mouse.

You could also try changing the mouse ports or the mouse cable.

Method 5 – Change The Mouse Clicking Speed

It often happens that the clicking speed is high. In such a case, if the double-clicking speed is high, a single click is often considered as a double-click. This can be fixed by decreasing the speed.

Step 1 – Go to Control Panel.

Step 2 – Locate and select the Mouse option.

Step 3 – Go to Mouse Properties. You can also find Mouse Properties by right-clicking on Mouse.

Step 4 – On the buttons tab, you can see double-clicking speed. Drag the pointer from fast to the slower side.

Step 5 – Apply the changes. Select OK.
