How to Fix Random Restart on Windows 10

And if your system is restarting randomly frequently, then you have also become a victim of Windows 10 Anniversary update. Method 1- Change Advanced Power Settings to Fix Random Restart

You might try to change the power settings of your system if you are facing the random restart on Windows 10.

Step 1: In the search bar at the bottom left corner of your screen, type Power Options. A list of results will be displayed, close Power Options.

Step 2: From the Power Options, click on your plan and then choose Change Plan Settings option.

Step 3: Then click on Change Advanced Power Options. Scroll down the list in the Power Options window.

Step 4:  Locate Processor Power Management. If the minimum processor state is set to 100%, change it to some other value like 0.

Step 5: Save the changes.

Method 2- Fix Random Restart on Windows 10 by Disabling Automatically Restart Feature

Step 1: Press Windows icon key+ S to open the Search option. Then type My Computer and from the list choose This PC/ Computer.

Step 2: Right-click on it and click on Properties. Click on Advanced System settings.

Step 3: The System Properties windows will open. Click on Settings option.

Step 4: Uncheck the box for Automatically Restart. Then press Ok.

Method 3- Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Due to incompatible graphics drivers, sometimes certain conflicts are caused due to which your system can start randomly. And so with Windows 10 Anniversary Update, it is the time that you update or reinstall graphics driver.

Step 1: Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start Menu. Then choose Device Manager.

Step 2: Locate Display Adapters in the list. Then expand it and right click on graphics driver.

Step 3: Click on Uninstall option.

Restart your system. Windows 10 will detect and reinstall the correct driver automatically.

Method 4- Fix Random Restarts on Windows 10 by Performing Clean Boot

Performing a clean boot can help you, but it will be a little difficult for the non-technical people. To begin the process by entering the Safe Mode and then perform Diagnostic Startup.

Step 1: To load the basic drivers and files, boot your system into Safe Mode. If the issue doesn’t resolve, then move on to the next step.

Step 2: Launch the Run dialogue box by pressing the Windows icon key+ R. type msconfig in the box and press Enter.

Step 3: Click on the General tab. And then select Diagnostic Startup option.

Step 4: Choose Ok and restart your system.

Step 5: Now open System Configuration similarly. Then click the services tab.

Step 6: Disable the Hide all Microsoft services by unchecking the box against the option. Now enable the selected services that you want to start automatically.

Now check if the system is randomly rebooting by restarting the system manually.

Method 5- Check for Power Issue

If none of the above methods works for you, you can check if the power issue is causing the random restart problem on Windows 10. So if you suspect of faulty power supply or hardware, then try to replace the old power cables with new one. Or replace Power Supply unit (PSU), and check if your system is restarting or not.
