Fix Windows 10 Won’t Wake Up from Sleep after Update

After the Windows Fall Creators Update, a lot of issues are being brought into the light. And one such error is Windows 10 won’t wake up from sleep after the update. There are chances that after you upgrade your system, it forgets to wake up every time you put it to sleep. If you are also trapped in a condition like this whereby pressing any key or moving the mouse also doesn’t help, then you can look into some of these troubleshooting methods to resolve it. Unfortunately, when you get stuck on it, you can just observe a black screen and thus reboot your system is the only thing you can do. And so instead of force shut down, here are the top methods to fix Windows 10 won’t wake up from sleep after the update.

How to Fix Windows 10 won’t Wake Up from Sleep after Update

The cause behind the Windows 10 error observed after the famous Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is faulty drivers, power modes of the system, Windows update, incorrect device configuration and some more. So as we are aware of some of the possible reasons that can lead to this annoying issue, we can resolve it too.

Method 1- Modify the Device Settings to Make Available the Sleep Mode

Possibly if you are stuck on the Windows 10 won’t wake up from sleep after update issue, then you would have a black screen. So to enter the login screen, force restart your system. And the follow the steps given below-

Step 1: Press the Windows icon key +X together. Then select Device Manager from the prompted list.

Step 2: Now expand the Mice and other pointing devices category. Double click on the mouse name that you are currently using.

Step 3: In the new window that opens click on the Power Management tab. Here check the box against the Allow this device to wake the computer option.

Step 4: Now click on Ok. Next double click on the Network adapter option.

Step 5: Again click on the Power Management tab. Here make sure that the given two options are checked- Allow this device to wake the computer and Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer.

Step 6: Click on Ok.

Method 2- Disable and Enable Hibernation

You can modify the hibernation settings that is the power saving state of your system to check if the error persists or not.

Step 1: Open the command prompt by clicking on Start. Then type cmd in the search bar.

Step 2: Right-click on it and then choose Run as Administrator. Then press the continue option when prompted.

Step 3: Then type powercfg- h off at the Command prompt and hit the Enter key.

Step 4: Lastly type Exit and hit the enter key. The command prompt window will close.

Now by the above-given methods, you can disable the Hibernation state. To switch it on, follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Follow the route given below. It is same as those mentioned above.

Start> Run as Administrator> Continue.

Step 2: Now type powercfg- h on and press the enter key.

Step 3: Then enter Exit as the command and press Enter.

Method 3- Change the Power Settings to Wake up Windows 10

If the above methods don’t help you to get out of sleep mode on Windows 10, then try to modify the power settings as given below.

Step 1: Type Power Options in the Search bar. Select Power Options from the list displayed.

Step 2: Now on the left-hand side of the window, locate and click on Choose when to turn off the display.

Step 3: there will be two options- Put computer to sleep and Turn off the display. Change the time accordingly for these two options.

Step 4: Click on Save changes. Next go back and again from the left side of the window, click on choose when the computer sleeps.

Step 5: Here also make changes in the time for Turn off the display accordingly.

Step 6: Save the changes. Then reboot your system.

This was another method by which you can fix computer won’t wake up from sleep after Windows 10 update issue.

Method 4- Disable Fast Startup to Fix Windows 10 Won’t Wake Up from Sleep

We are sharing this last method that will help you to wake Windows 10 from sleep.

Step 1: Open Control Panel and the click on Power Options. Then select Additional Power Settings.

Step 2: And then locate what the power buttons do and click on it.

Step 3: Now select the Change Settings that are a currently available option. Here locate the Shutdown settings.

Step 4: Uncheck the box against Turn on fast startup option. Save the Changes.
