Fix Fortnite Voice Chat Not Working

Voice chat on Fortnite is a complicated issue that a whole lot of users most likely don’t understand.

The FortniteVoice Chat error appears to be affecting an increasing number of people. It is possible to also connect to friends that are playing in Fortnite through other platforms like Facebook or Steam.

Fix Fortnite Voice Chat Not Working Problem

Fortnite is a BattleRoyale game and it is the biggest rival of PUBG. If you are a big fan of Fortnite then this could be a very frustrating issue for you.

According to experts, chances are audio is not working correctly. Also, the issue will occur only with the Fortnite game. Voice will work with other games and applications.

What causes the Voice Chat not to work in Fortnite?

  • Chances are you haven’t selected an audio device properly. So choose your default audio device.
  • Changes in the registry files: Due to some issues with the registries, you will face Voice Chat not to work in the Fortnite issue.
  • If you are using a controller then there is some issue with audio controls.

First of all, make sure that you have an active internet connection. Also, make sure that Audio is working with other applications and games.

Even though Fortnite is definitely the largest game on earth today, together with countless gamers enrolled daily, but still, it has some issues.

Method 1: Log Out and log in to Fortnite Account

This may look like a common solution but it worked for many users. So we also recommended you to try this solution. All you have to do is, logout from your Fortnite Account and after some time, log in again.

This is the easiest fix to try when chat isn’t working in Fortnite. If not one of the below fixes resolves your Fortnite Voice Chat problem, consider reinstalling Fortnite. As soon as it’s very good news that the new problem was spotted, it will surely cause big issues for players attempting to run duos and squads.

If you are certain that there isn’t any issue with your mic boom and headset, it looks to be a problem with your PS4 settings.

Method 2: Install latest Fortnite Patch

Fortnite has already released a new Patch to fix all the major bugs and errors. So we recommended to download and install the latest Fortnite Patch.

Step 1: Open Epic Games Launcher and then go to the left side section and then click on Library.

Step 2: On the right panel, click the gear icon on the lower-right side of Fortnite.

Step 3: Turn on the toggle for Auto-update.

Step 4: Restart the Games Launcher.

Step 5: If a patch is available, it will be detected and all the other future updates will be automatically installed by the system.

Run Fortnite again and see if the problem is fixed or not.

Metho 3: Update sound card driver

Step 1: Press Win + X and click on Device Manager. Now find sound, video, and game controllers.

Step 2: Right-click on your driver and then click on update. Select the search automatically. It will check for the latest sound driver online and notify you,

You can also use 3rd party driver update tool to download and install the latest drivers on Windows 10.

You can use Tools like Driver Easy and Driver Booster.

Method 4: Check Audio settings

Windows and Fortnite both have their own audio settings. So make sure that they are perfectly configured.

First of all, temporarily turn off voice chat. For that, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Fortnite and then in the menu, click on the gear icon to open the game settings from the upper-right corner.

Step 2: Click the speaker icon for audio settings. Turn off Voice Chat > Apply. Close Fortnite.

Step 3: Now on your Windows Desktop, right-click the speaker icon at the bottom-right corner > go to Sounds.

Step 4: Click the Playback > speakers/headphones you’re using > Set Default.

Go to Recording > select microphone you’re using > click on set default.

Click Ok > check Fortnite again and see if Fortnite Voice Chat Not Working is fixed or not.

Method 5: Use the Registry

Step 1: Press Win + R for Run and then type “regedit”.

Step 2: Go to the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Epic Games
HKEY_USERSLONG-STRING-OF-CHARACTERS-REMOVED\Software\Epic Games

Step 3: Find directories > delete one by one. Restart the computer.

If you are still facing the same issue then you have to download and install Fortnite Game again on your Windows 10.
