In today’s dose of news, we may have some bad news. It was reported that Microsoft would no longer sell its original Xbox one in the US. The company till now only offered a retail version of the Xbox One S and Xbox One X at its online store, with a simple price of $199. These were refurbished models. The original model vanished from the US stores while the UK stores marked the stock of consoles as “sold out.”
The original Xbox One resembled a VCR unit. It was launched nearly four years ago, priced around $100 more than Sony’s PlayStation 4. Sony took the lead in the console wars because of the gap and fall out from Microsoft’s mixed messaging on the Xbox One. To control the damage caused, Microsoft came up with an idea of closing the price gap by unbundling the kinetic sensor from the original Xbox One. This was done six months after its debut launch. Even though the original Xbox One struggled to match with the fierce completion given by PS4, the makers focused more on its efforts and skills on games and enhanced hardware mechanisms.
Only last year, was the Xbox One S was launched. The look and design of the consoles were slimmed down and given a robot white style. The company even stopped manufacturing the Xbox 360. The smaller version garnered more appreciation than the original one. This could be because the latter had a 4K support for Blu-ray discs and apps like Netflix, and Amazon Video. Microsoft is now shifting their focus to the Xbox One S for the entry console. Their upcoming and up to the minute Xbox One X will be for the hardcore Xbox fans.
The company commented that “fastest-selling Xbox pre-order ever.” This was said after they opened their pre orders for the latest edition last Sunday. But the thing is, it is hard to make out what does this piece of information means as Microsoft hasn’t provided a definite number for its recording setting sales. Microsoft can boast about having their all their Xbox One X units sold out at Amazon in mere 25 minutes. They commented that people have pre-ordered more Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition consoles in the first five days than any Xbox ever”
