Fix Screen Flashing or Flickering on Windows 10

With the launch of latest Windows 10 in the market more and more users are upgrading to the latest version. No doubt, the latest Windows 10 up gradation offers you with some awesome features. But at the same time, it is full of faulty experiences as well. No Wi-Fi and slow Internet are one of its common issues. Recently many have come across the new problem of Screen Flashing/Flickering on Windows 10 update. When you switch on the laptop the screen either flashes or flickers and hence trouble your daily routine work.

This error of Screen flashing/flickering on Windows 10 is usually due to incompatible drivers. The incompatible app, programs or display driver causes the screen to flicker every time when you do your work.

Fix Screen Flashing or Flickering on Windows 10

If you suffer the screen flickering problem after Windows 10 upgrade then no worries, it can be resolved easily. Use the keyboard shortcut keys Ctrl + Shift + Esc to access the Task Manager and check whether Taskbar Manager flickers or not. If Taskbar Manager does not flicker, then there might be an incompatible application.

Method 1- Update or Uninstall your Incompatible Programs

Microsoft has pointed out that Norton AntiVirus, iCloud, or IDT Audio like programs can cause screen flickering or flashing screen after Windows 10 upgrade. If you have installed any of these programs then make sure you are running the latest version.

If not then follow the steps below to uninstall or reinstall the incompatible programs-

Step 1- Press Windows key + I at the same time. This will open Settings

Step 2- Select System option. Then go to Apps & features menu.

Step 3- Locate the program that is causing the screen flickering problem.

Step 4- Now select the program. Select Uninstall.

Then go to the official site of these programs and again choose to install.

Method 2- Use a Higher Monitor Refresh Rate

Another cause of the flashing problem can be a wrong monitor refresh rate. For this search through your monitor’s manual for the best refresh rate that it is compatible with and change it accordingly.

Step 1- Right-click on the blank place of the desktop. Then select Display settings.

Step 2- Then click on Advanced display settings menu.

Step 3- Under the related settings given a click on the Display Adapter properties.

Step 4- Click on the Monitor tab. Then choose a higher Screen refresh rate.

Step 5- Click OK button. You can now try 80 Hertz first.

That’s it and you are done. Now, look if your problem has been resolved or not.

Method 3- Disable Windows services

Disabling the Windows Error Reporting Services may also solve the problem of screen flickering. To disable these services follow the steps-

Step 1- Go to Search menu. Then type the command services.msc. This will open Services option.

Step 2- Look for Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel. Once found then click on the right-click it. Choose Stop.

Step 3- Follow the same steps for Windows Error Reporting Service

Then restart your computer and you will see that your problem of Screen flashing is solved with an ease.

Method 4- Enter the Safe Mode and Clean Boot

A safe Mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that will start your Windows with a limited amount of features. Hence you will be able to see which Windows features are causing the problem.

Step 1- Restart your PC

Step 2- While your PC is in boot mode press and hold down the Shift key using the keyboard.

Step 3- Click the Restart option while still holding down the Shift key.

Step 4- Now click on the Troubleshoot icon.

Step 5- Then choose the Advanced options menu.

Step 6- Then on the next screen, click the Startup options icon available.

Step 7- Now select Safe Mode with Networking.

Step 8- Click the Restart button. The PC will reboot.

Step 9- After reboot, there will be Startup settings screen

Step 10- finally to enter Safe mode, press the F4 function key.

You can now perform the clean boot if you find no issue after when you have enter the safe mode.

Method 5- Update the Display Driver

You can either update the driver or uninstall the faulty or incompatible drivers.

Step 1- Open Device Manager.

Step 2- Then click to expand Display adapters. Again right-click on the graphics device name.

Step 3- Select Uninstall.

Step 4- The prompt window will appear. Click on OK.

Now restart your PC. After when it gets restart you can now opt for updating the display driver. This can be done through the various third-party tool like Driver easy or Driver talent.

That’s it and you are now no longer the victim of screen flashing/flickering on Windows 10 error.
