Fix Scanning and Repairing Drive
If the “scanning and repairing drive” halt at 18%, 56% or other percent and it is for a long time and never boots into the desktop then the following methods can help it to fix it.

Method 1- Enter Windows 10 in Safe Mode
Booting the computer in safe mode can help you get rid of the error. Follow the steps to do so-
Step 1- Hold down the Power Button down for five seconds. Do it until the computer shuts down.
Step 2- Press the Power button again to turn it on.
Step 3- The screen will say Windows failed to start.
Step 4- Repeat this for few times till you see the Recovery Window.
Step 5- Now choose Advanced Repair Options. Then go to Troubleshoot.
Step 6- Click on Advanced Options
Step 7- Choose to Start up Settings. You will enter safe mode.
Step 8- Log in and then reboot.
Method 2- Run CHKDSK in Safe Mode
Step 1- Enter Windows 10 Safe Mode > Open run >type cmd > Shift+Ctrl+Enter to access it as Admin rights.
Step 2- Type the following command > Enter.
chkdsk x: /f
Step 3- Restart PC.
Method 3- Run Repair-Volume -DriveLetter command
This method uses PowerShell to run command Repair-Volume -DriveLetter to scan and fix the hard disk errors. Follow steps as given.
Step 1- Enter Windows 10 in Safe mode > Type powershell as administrator.
Step 4- Type the following command.
repair-volume -driveletter x
