What is TrustedInstaller.exe High CPU and should I remove it?

TrustedInstaller.exe is a very important Windows service that will use a high percentage of the processing power and slow down your system. So according to some users, it is good to disable the TrustedInstaller.exe process on Windows.

Before doing anything, first, read and understand that What is TrustedInstaller.exe in Windows. As we already mentioned that TrustedInstaller Service is a very important service, but sometimes it uses high CPU usage.

This high CPU usage issue is very old in Windows 10. These services make your computer slow. Without TrustedInstaller.exe, you can’t install or remove other 3rd party apps in Windows 10. So it is not a good idea to remove TrustedInstaller Windows service.

What is TrustedInstaller.exe

TrustedInstaller.exe is a Windows Modules Installer that allows installation and removal of programs. The service is located at C:\Windows\servicing\. The service is set to run in manual mode. But sometimes this process is corrupted, and due to that, it will slow down your system.

In such situations, you can run a system file scanner using sfc /scannow command in Command prompt as admin. This service is using a high percentage of your processing power.

You can, but it is suggested that do not disable TrustedInstaller as it is protected system service and if you disable it, you cannot install Windows updates and also uninstall apps on your system.

When you try to uninstall apps on your Windows computer, you will see a Folder Access Denied message will pop up and say “You need permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this folder.”. You’ll need to change ownership.

Solutions to fix TrustedInstaller.exe High CPU Usage Issue

Method 1: Taking Ownership of Files

Step 1: Find the system folder and right-click on it > Properties.

Step 2: Security tab > click the Advanced.

Step 3: Click the Change link to change the owner.

Step 4: Type Administrators > click the Check Names > confirm.

Step 5: Enable “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects” to apply these changes > Click OK.

Step 6: Click the Edit in properties > Select the Administrators user > enable the Full Control.

Step 7: Click OK.

Trustedinstaller is not a virus. You don’t want to scare. It won’t harm your Windows system. If you want to delete files protected by trustedinstaller then it is very easy. You just have to change pwrmission, as we explained above.

    TrustedInstaller.exe has been corrupted, and you may wager an error message with that impact. In such a case running the System File Checker may help.
