How to Fix Windows 10 Taskbar not working

Microsoft has already released Windows 10 update to fix major Windows 10 issues and bugs. We all know that new Windows 10 Creators Update brings lots of new features and security changes. Also, the new Windows 10 update fixes some minor bugs.

After installing the new Windows 10 update, many users have reported that Windows 10 taskbar is not working. Some users have also posted in Reddit that My taskbar isn’t working after Windows 10 upgrade or unable to open taskbar.

Fix Windows 10 Taskbar not working

The new Windows 10 Anniversary update brings a lot of improvements but after installing the update, users have started facing some issues. The problem varies from one user to another. Read below methods to solve all taskbar related issues in Windows 10.

Method 1: Restart Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer is the main service in the Windows operating system. When Windows starts, Windows Explorer automatically starts. Windows 10 Taskbar not working is a very serious issue and there are so many problems that will lead to Taskbar not working.

Step 1: Press Windows button + R to open the Run window. Now Enter taskmgr > Press Enter.

This will open Task Manager.

Step 2: In the Task Manager, go to the Processes section. Search for Windows Explorer.

Select it and Right-click on it. Then Restart.

Step 3: This will kill all the process of Windows Explorer and restart again.

Also, Restart your computer after this process.

This should fix the Windows 10 Taskbar not working issue.

Method 2: Re-register Taskbar

Step 1: To Re-register Taskbar in Windows 10, you will need to use Powershell. To open Powershell, Press Windows key. Type “Powershell”.

Step 2: Right-click on Windows Powershell (App) > select Run as administrator. Select Yes in the UAC Window.

Step 3: Copy the following command and paste it into the Powershell window.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Step 4: Now go to Explorer and navigate to the following location: C:/Users/name/AppData/Local/.

Note: Replace the name with your username and unhide all the files.

Step 5: Find the folder TileDataLayer > and Delete the folder.

If you cannot see the folder then press Windows + R for the Run dialogue box and type services.msc > Enter to open the Services Manager.

Find Tile Data model server service and stop it. Now delete the folder again.

So many users are asking how to identify Taskbar not working issue. So the simple answer is, check if you can click on Taskbar or not. Or also try to hide and unhide it. If not, the first reboot your computer and then see if you still see Taskbar not working. Hope this article helped you.
